Hello to anyone that has tuned into the introduction of my new blog! On this site, you will be able to imagine yourself living in a luxury motorhome traveling the U.S. as far as six wheels down can carry you and all of your possessions. You will be chauffeured by my husband, as he does all the driving while I do all the navigating. Sounds awesome and pretty simple, right? Well, if by chance you have traveled anywhere in an RV (Recreational Vehicle, that is), you know that it is never really quite that simple when you are 40 foot long and towing a car behind you (an additional 20+ feet) and you can never ever back up! NEVER! So finding all the truck stop sized gas stations, future rest areas, following a minimum of 2 GPS systems, monitoring several apps on my phone, sometimes a map, and keeping my eyes wide open and alert for all of the unexpected “do you think we can fit” moments” is also my job. I have also mastered the art of walking the aisle while in motion for coffee, snacks and anything else needed while rolling down the highway on six very large tires at 65mph. My husband is an excellent driver and I am excellent at being nervous, anxious, scared to death at times, and have mastered having a total panic attack very quietly in my co-captain’s chair behind the world’s largest picture window ever created in a moving vehicle!
It is here that you will learn that the RV World is like no other place imaginable. There is a special language amongst RV people similar to learning how to decipher a teens text messages that I will discuss in more detail in future blogs. There are words that have several meanings that I never knew before, but hey, we’ve been doing this RV thing since Spring of 2011, and full time since June 2017, and I have learned so much! Then there are all of the other fine folks we call RVers, neighbors, friends and the ones to avoid. The places we love to see and camp in and the places I call creepy. I can’t wait to share some of these fabulous, fun (and not-so-fun) adventures with all of you! In my next blog, I will back-track and explain how I got to be here living full time in what I call “the Bus”. For the record, we live in a Tiffin Allegro RED (floor plan 38QRA), which is a Class A motorhome and looks like a bus. It is a diesel pusher (engine is in the rear pushing the vehicle, not pulling from the front). Therefore, I refer to it as the “Bus” and my nick name for it is “The Beast”. I hope you’ll come along on my adventures and enjoy the ride…
