Lorraine Turner

Painter of Shells & Small Town Charm

  • Grew up in a small town without the means for a good camera, so creativity was expressed by drawing and painting instead of photography
  • Received several red and blue ribbons for school artwork
  • Accepted into the Minneapolis, MN School of Art Instruction, but couldn’t participate due to family hardships
  • Successful career in the luxury goods business as an Account Executive until the Great Recession in 2008
  • Lived an RV Life doing extensive travel from 2011 – 2021
  • Snow birds in Key West for five years and sold art to the locals and fellow RVers
  • Strong advocate for small businesses and supports local communities
  • A creative person doesn’t have to be famous with artworks in Galleries to be considered an Artist
  • The greatest compliment a person can be paid is to have someone desire their art and purchase it to display it in their home.

Hear what Clients have said about my Shell Artworks:

Patty Houston, AL:

“I received my “Cocky” shell rooster in March 2016 for an Anniversary present. I had lusted after Lorraine’s beautiful shell artwork all winter. Mr. Rooster stands guard in the window of our motor home to sing his song at first light every morning. These shell pieces are such a work of art! Lorraine spends weeks or more on each piece. She is truly talented and has great patience to put these tedious, beautifully coordinated pieces together.”

Annie Olivero, NY:

“Nothing like this out there! Absolutely love it, and so did my sister-in-law. It was a retirement gift for her. There is nothing that compares to your artwork!”

Evelyn McKeen Rippe Webb, NC:

“I was lucky enough to acquire three of Lorraine’s beautiful shell artworks of wine bottles, grapes and glass. One was for me, one for my daughter, and one for my daughter-in-law. We ALL love them! Beautiful and meticulous creations.”

Pamela Haley Fournier, MI:

“I was lucky enough to receive one of Lorraine’s shell artworks of the Key West chicken as a get well present after a surgery. It is beautiful and I get a lot of compliments on it, and many people want to know where I got it from. It currently is displayed in my home in Michigan.”

Ginger Rudolph, NC:

“I am so proud of you for looking ahead and working on your art and your writing!”

“Bob Pugh bought one of Lorraine’s first seashell rooster works of art for his sister, Nancy Lloyd. She lived behind us at the time in Swansboro, NC. She rarely left her home and lived vicariously through our pictures and our stories of travel and adventure. Bob always bought her memorabilia as we traveled, and knew she would love the rooster because our friend Lorraine created it, and because it was such a perfect representation of Key West! We all wish you luck in your new endeavors!”

Judy Price, AL:

“Lorraine’s artwork is very thoughtful. In that she takes time to pick her colors and textures so that it is also dimensionally beautiful. I actually have a piece that is a photo of her work printed on canvas. It looks like a gorgeous painting!”

Sue Williams, NH:

“I had the opportunity to see Lorraine’s shell art last winter. I decided to buy a gift for my daughter’s birthday. Although my daughter grew up near the ocean, she now lives inland in NH and raises chickens. I bought the chicken shell piece, as it fits in with her décor, and the shells remind her of her days at the beach. Lorraine did an amazing job with color and all the particulars that go into a work of art. My daughter was thrilled and has it proudly displayed in her kitchen. She loved it so much that she would love to have another piece of Lorraine’s artwork. I look forward to seeing and hopefully purchasing a piece for myself this year.”

“You are so creative and your pieces are beautiful!”

Cindy Vance Craig, OH:

“My apple artwork you custom made for me is beautiful! I love it! It goes perfectly in my kitchen! I would definitely recommend anyone to purchase your artwork! Just beautiful work!”

Cynthia Twitchell, NH:

“I have two of Lorraine’s awesome shell artworks. The rooster from when we first met in Key West is proudly displayed in our NH home. The beautiful customized butterfly she made specifically for me was a surprise gift from my hubby John, and hangs on my bedroom wall. I love them both and think of you and Rogie often whenever I look at them!”

Cheryl Farrell, WI:

“Lorraine’s debut of her shell art in Key West created a buzz of excitement among the Sigsbee campers. It was a magical marriage of the warm ocean waters surrounding the little island, with the talent to capture the island vibes, with sea shells as the medium. Each new work of art was proudly claimed by fellow campers who displayed their new prizes prominently in RV windshields. I gave mine to a cherished colleague, who now keeps the stunningly decorated tray on her desk saying it reminds her of tropical sunshine during cold Wisconsin days.”

MB Shimola, OH:

“They are beautiful!”

Carol Cumbo, FL:

“I don’t know how many of Lorraine’s followers have known her for years, but I have since her beginning RV years. She is a wonderful friend, person, and artist! I’m very proud of her success over the years.”

Judith Von Duyke, OH:

“Detail is amazing! Such a gift!”

Kim Bell, FL:

“Love your artwork.”
